Congressional Staff Training: Working Across the Aisle

2043 and 2044 Rayburn House Office Building

Braver Angels is a national nonprofit working to bridge the partisan divide and restore America’s fraying social fabric.

Register to join us as we partner with Braver Angels for two training programs to connect with a wider range of partners and enhance your job effectiveness. Staffers are encouraged—but not required—to attend both sessions.

Session 1: Listening to Understand – In Person, 2043 and 2044 Rayburn House Office Building – Thurs, July 21st from 12:00-1:00
Skills for listening to an opposing viewpoint with a goal of understanding, not refuting

Session 2: Speaking to Connect – Virtual – Fri, July 22nd from 12:00-1:00
Strategies that help someone more easily hear—and connect with—your perspective

Each session will include a skills presentation and time for practice conversations with a staffer from a different party (or committee, depending on availability). Staffers will get a rare opportunity to discuss which issues are important to them—and their member of Congress—and to find common ground.

Lunch will be provided.
